This fall, Curious Theatre Company bursts into Season 28 with the regional premiere of Eureka Day, the razor-sharp, laugh-out-loud comedy by Jonathan Spector. Running September 6 through October 5, this explosive satire kicks off the season with humor, heart, and a timely punch. Fresh off a Tony Award win for Best Revival of a Play, Eureka Day thrusts audiences into the well-meaning chaos of a progressive private school in Berkeley, where a mumps outbreak sends the school’s board, and their values, into a tailspin. As tensions rise over mandatory vaccinations, consensus crumbles and the idealistic façade cracks wide open. A Comedy with Bite Set in a cheerful, child-sized library, Eureka Day strikes a brilliant balance between comedy and chaos. What begins as a civilized discussion among concerned parents quickly unravels hilariously once the internet gets involved. With biting wit and whip-smart dialogue, the play skewers liberal groupthink while treating all sides with surprising nuance. Power Players On and Off the Stage Helming the production is Curious Theatre Artistic Company Member Christy Montour-Larson, making her 17th directorial appearance at Curious. Known for her bold, thoughtful interpretations, Montour-Larson currently serves as Curious’s Literary and Education Manager. She leads a powerhouse cast of local favorites including Rhianna DeVries, Kristina Fountaine, Josh Robinson, Erik Sandvold, and Karen Slack—each bringing fierce energy and sharp comedic timing to this ensemble-driven story.
