Curious Theatre Presents the Regional Premiere of JOB — a Relentless Psychological Thriller About Power, Identity, and the Price of Belonging Curious Theatre is proud to present the regional premiere of JOB, a taut, provocative psychological thriller by Max Wolf Friedlich, directed by Josh Hartwell. The production runs November 8 through December 7, 2025 (with previews November 6–7). In a sleek, clinical corporate environment, JOB zeroes in on a high-stakes battle between two people at very different points in their lives: Jane, a mid-20s tech employee recently caught in a viral fiasco, and Loyd, the crisis-therapist evaluator assigned to determine whether she may return to work. As Loyd probes for truth and Jane resists control, their sessions spiral into a game of emotional chess, where power, trust, and survival blur in unexpected and chilling ways. This 75-minute, no-intermission two-hander has already generated major buzz: “A chic, relentless Broadway thriller.” — The New York Times “80 minutes of pretty much pure tension. A slick, cleverly crafted drop-tower ride.” — Vulture “Engrossing, disturbing and frequently funny. It might even scare you off social media for a day or two.” — The New Yorker “Exhilarating… taut and verbally lacerating… A two-person psychological thriller that pits an older man ostensibly in a position of power against a younger woman who is not afraid to seize it by any means necessary.” — Theatermania Those bold appraisals track the production’s ambition: to leave audiences unsettled, questioning how much we trust the systems around us, how much we reveal in desperation, and how much we risk to belong. Curious Theatre’s staging promises to accentuate the play’s razor-sharp psychological twists through intimate direction and precise performance.
