San Diego Dance Theater

San Diego Dance Theater is a nonprofit performing arts organization based in the ARTS DISTRICT at Liberty Station in San Diego. It operates both a professional modern dance company and a multi-generational school, and describes its mission as providing access to professional training, performances and programming that represent diversity of all kinds. The school runs a children's program with a fall term from September to December, and weekly Adult and Aging Creatively classes covering contemporary modern, modern, functional mobility, mindful movement conditioning and improvisational movement work at levels from advanced beginner to intermediate. A summer workshop with teaching artists and choreographers culminates in a showcase. The organization also presents an annual repertory concert, the Emerging Choreographers Showcase, Live Arts Fest and its long-running site-specific Trolley Dances along the MTS trolley line, and rents out its Light Box Theater and Studio 106.
