National Dance Institute (NDI) is a non-profit arts education organization based at the Jacques d'Amboise Center for Learning and the Arts, 217 West 147th Street in Harlem, New York City, celebrating 50 years in 2026. Founded by New York City Ballet dancer Jacques d'Amboise, its mission is to teach children to reach their full potential through inclusive dance education, and it expects to reach around 5,000 children a year. Its core work is weekly in-school dance classes with live music delivered through long-term partnerships with schools across the New York metro area. Motivated students from those classes are offered full scholarships to Advanced Teams, a multi-year continuum that includes the Jacques d'Amboise RISE Teams, the Celebration Team and the Irene Diamond Summer Institute, working with a range of choreographers and performing throughout the year. The NDI DREAM Project is an inclusive program in which children with and without disabilities dance and perform together. The NDI Collaborative for Teaching and Learning trains educators worldwide in the NDI methodology.
