Kruti Dance Academy is an Indian dance institution founded in 1995 by Dina Sheth, with Shemoni Parekh as Artistic Director, based at 3520 Breckinridge Blvd in Duluth, Georgia, outside Atlanta. It was created to build Indian cultural awareness among Indian American youth and specializes in Bharatanatyam, India's classical storytelling form, alongside Bollywood, folk and fusion choreography. The academy works from a 9,000 square foot facility with five studios, specialized flooring and sound. Offerings include Bharatanatyam and Bollywood classes for girls and boys, Bollywood and Bharatanatyam for adults, Toddler Time for children aged 3 and under with a parent, live online classes for students outside Atlanta, private instruction for special occasions, and master classes and corporate workshops. The academy has staged 146 Arangetrams to date, presents annual concerts, and its dancers have appeared on America's Got Talent and the Indian television show Chak Dhoom Dhoom. A Rhythm & Roots summer camp for grades K-5 combines Bollywood dance, yoga, arts and crafts and cultural lessons.
Just last month, Divas for Democracy, directed by Lee Wilkins and Josh Rhodes, brought together the best of the worlds of drag and Broadway for an unforgettable night to support Drag Out the Vote.
