Inter City Row Modern Dance Company of Shreveport

Inter City Row Modern Dance Company & Cultural Arts Institute is based at 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. in Shreveport, Louisiana. It describes its purpose as providing opportunities in dance for individuals aspiring to become professional or semi-professional dancers, and it operates both as a performing company and as a school. The published class schedule runs Monday to Saturday and covers beginning ballet in age bands starting at ages 4-6 and continuing through ages 7-9, 10-12 and 13 and up, intermediate ballet requiring two years of training, and advanced ballet with pointe from age 9 after three years of training. Modern classes are taught in the Horton and Graham techniques at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, with the advanced class reserved for company members; jazz runs at beginning and advanced levels, and hip hop from age 10. Also on the timetable are West African dance for ages 17 and up and an exercise and swing class for ages 15 and up. The organization hosts a Black Dance Conference and takes volunteers and sponsors.
