Covington Dance Co

Covington Dance Company is based at 111 West Chestnut Street in Amite, Louisiana. Its stated mission is to provide professional dance instruction and instil an appreciation for the art of dance while encouraging students of all ages to reach their fullest potential and enjoy themselves. Programs are organized by age band, running from Preschool through Elementary and Secondary, Junior High and High School, to Advanced and Company classes, with a separate musical theatre offering. Styles taught are ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop. Ballet is treated as the foundation: all students are strongly encouraged to enroll in a ballet class and company members are required to take it. Pointe is restricted to advanced dancers with at least two prior years of ballet, and jazz classes begin at age 6 and are divided by age and ability. The studio also fields a competition team, and tuition is calculated by the number of class hours a student takes.
