About this studio
Gibney, founded by Gina Gibney, is a New York City dance organization describing itself as a dance company, a performing arts hub and a social action incubator. Its mission is to tap into the potential of movement, creativity and performance to effect social change and personal transformation, bringing together communities working at the intersection of art and social justice. Gibney Company performs works by established and emerging contemporary choreographers and tours, with related programs for company artists. Community initiatives, including Move to Move Beyond and Hands are for Holding, use dance with survivors of domestic violence and in violence prevention work year-round.
