About this studio
Now operating as Detroit Metropolitan Dance (formerly Eisenhower Dance Detroit, founded by Laurie Eisenhower), this non-profit runs both a professional contemporary dance company and the School of Detroit Met Dance from an 11,800 square foot facility, the Maggie Allesee Studios, at 450 Enterprise Ct in Bloomfield Hills, opened in November 2022. The school teaches ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary dance to students of all ages and ability levels, from a child's first class through advanced pre-professional training, with a curriculum developed under artistic director Stephanie Pizzo that emphasises technique, artistry, injury prevention and personal growth. Company artists teach, mentor and choreograph for students.
