The Academy of Dance Arts is a dance school at 684 Six Mile Road in Comstock Park, serving the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Owned by Dawnell and Bryce, it teaches boys and girls of all ages, skill levels and learning abilities, with instruction focused on technique and performance. Faculty include current and former professional dancers and degree-holding teachers, and the studio uses the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum for ballet alongside Cecchetti, Vaganova and Balanchine concepts. Combination classes start at age 2, with tap, jazz and hip hop from age 5, contemporary and choreography from age 7, and invitation-only pointe and variations for advanced ballet students. The building has three studios with sprung floors and one-way observation windows so parents can watch classes. Competitive performance teams for age 6 and up travel to regional competitions and also perform at local festivals, parades, charity benefits and nursing homes.
