Argentine Tango Detroit (ATD) at 7758 Auburn Road in Utica, Michigan bills itself as metro Detroit's leading destination for tango and Latin lessons, parties and events, with 35 years of teaching behind it. Although Argentine tango is its core, the studio also has specializt instructors in salsa, club style Latin, ballroom, hip hop and swing, teaching students preparing for a wedding, dancing socially, or competing. Classes are run at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels almost every day of the week, with both group and private lessons available for individuals and couples, and singles welcome since no partner is required. The typical week includes Wednesday beginner and level 2 tango, a four-week Thursday salsa and rueda de casino series, Friday beginner and intermediate tango with a practica, and Sunday tango fitness, styling and technique. The faculty spans two generations and includes owner Amanda Accica, a US champion in Tango de Pista, stage tango, vals and milonga, with visiting international teachers such as Oscar y Georgina and Buenos Aires-based Johana Copes appearing regularly.
