About this studio
Detroit-Windsor Dance Academy (DWDA) is a non-profit dance school on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit, directed by Debra White-Hunt and Bruce Hunt, with more than 30 seasons behind it and a record of performances and critical notice on five continents, from Cape Town to Sydney to New York and California. It teaches ballet, jazz, hip hop, acro and more, starting with Introduction to Dance for ages 4-5 and Pre-dance for 6-7, and continuing through advanced training into a Junior Company and Second Company for pre-professional dancers. The academy's Dancer I.Q. program teaches alignment, vocabulary, dance history and anatomy alongside technique. Students perform an annual spring concert at Music Hall in Detroit, and a ten-month adult workshop begins each October. Summer camp and autumn registration are handled through the studio's online portal.
