Cheri's Dance Arts

Dancenter North is a school for the performing arts that spent 45 years in Libertyville, Illinois before relocating in 2019 to Gurnee under the direction and ownership of Stacy Joy Keller and Geno Kett. The school emphasises classical training, strong technique and performance artistry, and describes itself as offering a nurturing, body-positive and healthy environment in which students can train properly. Programs run from Early Childhood Dance for ages 2-5, through entry-level classes for beginners of any age and adult classes with registration, punch-card and drop-in options, up to serious training for ages 7-18 and a Professional Track for career-minded high school students admitted by application and interview. New students with prior experience are given complimentary placement evaluations. The studio's best-known tradition is its annual production of The Magic of the Nutcracker, staged at Libertyville High School and the Genesee Theatre.
