Plano Senior Speech Alums Stir Up Hijinx With Texas Premiere

A year ago, Becki McDonald and Proper Hijinx Artistic Director Stefany Cambra officially met at the One Minute Play Festival, where they were both directing. Cambra had just returned to her high school alma mater as the new Oral Interp coach for the Plano Speech and Debate Team. Immediately, this formed a connection between the two directors. McDonald was also a Plano alum and they were both coached by the same set of educators that helped them build the foundation of skills they now use as professional artists in the DFW Theatre community.
Uptown Closes Its Season with PERFECT ARRANGEMENT

To close its 17th season, Uptown's regional premiere of Perfect Arrangement by Topher Payne goes back in time to show the lengths employees will go to to hide their homosexual identity in order to preserve their job to convince society they are 'the Norm'. Perfect Arrangement, directed by B.J. Cleveland runs August 24 - September 2 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.
Runway Theatre To Continue The Panto Tradition In North Texas

Runway Theatre will revive an English tradition as it adopts the Panto once presented by the now-dark Theatre Britain. An all-volunteer, award-winning theater, Runway is currently known for presenting everything from big musicals to slap-your-thigh southern comedies, so the theatre will work closely with The British Emporium and past members of Theatre Britain to ensure the unique Panto production style is perfectly presented.

DCT Sets Sail For World Premiere Of TREASURE ISLAND Reimagined

As pirates say, people are in for some shiver me timbers adventure as Dallas Children's Theater (DCT) steers its vessel toward the world premiere of TREASURE ISLAND Reimagined! on September 23. To get the pirate party started, DCT is putting single tickets on sale with a land ho celebration on this Wednesday, August 1 from 4 to 6PM in its own parking lot. Free Kona Ice snow cones will be given away and Pirate Fred and his personal custom-built masterpiece, The Black Pearl, will be on hand for photo ops and admiring. There will also be giveaways and other fun to help distract the young ones from the hot summer afternoon. DCT hopes everyone will take advantage of this rare opportunity to see Captain Jack's labor of love and enjoy all of the other pirate goings on sittyated in their parking lot on Northwest Highway and Skillman across from Home Depot during this brief window of time. 2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center announced that Sarahbeth Grossman will be joining the theater as the full-time Artistic Producer. The producer is a key member of the artistic staff at Dallas Theater Center, overseeing the day-to-day producing of Dallas Theater Center's productions and working collaboratively within the organization and community to achieve both short?term and long?range artistic and institutional goals. An independent Tony Award-nominated producer, Grossman comes from New York City where she has over a dozen theater credits on Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tours, and in the West End.
