KVPAC's Encore Players is hosting Wine Nights at the Theatre!, a special occasion to come to Katy's only adult community theater who is proudly presenting this year's fall musical, Into the Woods. Wine Nights at the Theatre! will be at KVPAC on Oct 9 & 10, 8:00 pm performances only. BYOB ... Bring Your Own Bottle ... and we will serve it to you! The $10 per bottle corkage fee includes a fruit & cheese plate to enjoy during intermission. Concession sales directly offset the show's production costs.

Into the Woods brings some of the beloved Grimm Brothers stories to musical life with a fractured fairy tale twist that offers up what happens after "Happily Ever After". Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and other childhood favorites take the stage with the story of the baker and his wife, whose longing for a child is thwarted by a mischievous witch who lives next door. While this show is based on childhood fairy tales, it is intended for an adult audience (PG-13). Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, this local production is directed by Katy resident Jill Manser with musical direction by Elizabeth Mace. Performances are scheduled for October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 all at 8:00pm and a 2:00pm matinee on October 11 at the Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) located at 2501 S Mason Rd., #290, Katy, TX 77450, in the Great Southwest Equestrian Center complex. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at http://www.kvpac.org/. Ticket prices are Adults: $18 in advance ($20 at the door), Students: $15, Seniors: $15, and Groups of 10 or more: $10 each.

This exciting production coincides with the arrival of Stephen Sondheim himself to the Houston Metropolitan area. Mr. Sondheim will make a "rare" appearance with The New York Times columnist and former chief drama critic Frank Rich, at An Evening with Stephen Sondheim, Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 7:30 pm, at Jones Hall. During the live, unscripted conversation, Mr. Sondheim and Mr. Rich will reminisce about Stephen Sondheim's career. The KVPAC Encore Players cast of Into The Woods has been invited by the Houston Society for the Performing Arts to be the Prelude Performance for this very auspicious event, beginning at 7:00pm on the piano level lobby.
