Charles Herrera to Bring BY REQUEST to Joslyn Palm Desert's Newman Theater, 9/28

One of Palm Springs most popular singers will perform his new show, "By Request" at Arthur Newman Theater at the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2 PM. Known for his smooth voice and outgoing charm, Charles is a desert favorite and is regularly featured in productions, benefits, and shows throughout the desert. When recently asked by Les Michaels to fill in for one of the acts at his popular Sundays in Summer Series, Charles first response was to do all of his fans most requested until Les said he only gets one hour! So he enlisted the talents of musical director Tim Bruneau to join him on the baby grand along with cellist Teresa Di Pietro and narrowed it down to about 15 songs.

Charles was born and raised in the heart of the wine-growing Napa Valley. With training in opera, he is equally comfortable singing in musical styles from Opera, Country, Pop, Broadway, Jazz, and Standards from the Great American Songbook. His acting studies with teacher Stella Adler came in very handy with his performances in musicals and plays including Godspell, Oklahoma, The Mikado, The Glass Menagerie, and Harvey, and he's been nominated twice for Desert Theatre League awards for Best Lead Performer in Marry Me a Little, and Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. A seasoned cabaret singer, his performances have garnered him critical-acclaim and earned him fans in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Mexico - where he is in high demand for dubbing the singing in Spanish for US animated features. His newest CD, Love Changes Everything, will be available after his September 28thshow.

"By Request" starring Charles Herrera with Tim Bruneau on piano and Teresa Di Pietro on cello is Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2 PM and presented by Les Michaels' Sundays In Summer Series. The $11 cash only tickets will be sold only at the box office, which opens at 1 PM. The Arthur Newman Theater at the Joslyn Center is located at 73750 Catalina Way in Palm Desert.
