New York based dance troupe, Alison Cook Beatty Dance, returns to Milford this week! Woodmont native, Alison Cook-Beatty, will be presenting her homegrown modern dance company to the community she grew up in. Since its inception in 2012, Alison Cook Beatty Dance has performed across the nation, garnering major media attention, and it has been awarded numerous New York and New England grants in recognition of its impact on the arts industry. The company’s dancers: Maddie Burnett, Tomislav Nevistic, Ioanna Ioannides, Hannah Dillenbeck, Ava Trochiano and Gion Treichler will be performing in the Fairfield County Dance Festival at the Milford Green on July 16th and 6:30PM. Showcased alongside East Coast Contemporary Dance, Ted Ortiz dance and New England Ballet, this program is not to be missed! Alison Cook Beatty Dance will present four noteworthy, original works: “Lacrimis” to the music of Flamma Flamma; The recently restaged pandemic dance film “In Spite of, Because of… The Wallpaper”, to an original score by Johnathan Howard Katz; “Behind the Curve”, choreographed in 2017 with the collaboration of 11 time Bessie award winning choreographer, Doug Varone; And the recently premiered third section of “Joyful Offering”, commissioned by company chair Peter Muldavin and Helene Krumholz and danced to J.S. Bach’s Oboe Concerto in D Major. This performance is FREE to the public. Alison Cook Beatty Dance will also be performing in Norwalk, CT on July 17th (rain date: July 18th), and in New Canaan, CT on July 30th, all as part of the Fairfield County Dance Festival. All performances begin at 6:30PM.
