A catalog of all the possible phone calls that exist. A play that is not about corporations, not about warehouses, and certainly not about billionaires.
From five-time Obie winner Clubbed Thumb’s 2023 Summerworks festival comes reid tang’s experimental dark comedy where chaos, alienation, and machines collide. A genre-bending play that dials into the absurdity of capitalism and doesn’t hang up.
First Floor Theater announced playwright and actor Netta Walker as its 2026 Blueprint Commission recipient. Her new play, NORDICA, inspired by a Harlem Renaissance novel, will undergo a multi-phase workshop process culminating in a staged reading.
When you really stop to think about it, the late stage capitalist grind we find ourselves in (or rather, that billionaires and certain politicians have forced upon us) has created a disembodied culture marked by rampant labor, optimized efficiency, and fractured connections — and that’s a pretty absurd way to live life.
First Floor Theater will present WORK HARD HAVE FUN MAKE HISTORY, written by Reid Tang and directed by Tina El Gamal, from May 7 to June 6, 2026, at Raven Theatre in Edgewater.
Chicago's First Floor Theater has announced its 13th season with the Chicago Premiere of WORK HARD HAVE FUN MAKE HISTORY, written by reid tang and directed by Tina El Gamal.
