Chicago Opera Theater closes its 2025/26 season with the concert world premiere of Trusted, a new opera composed by Aaron Israel Levin with a libretto by Marella Martin Koch. The work is the seventh full-length opera developed through COT's Vanguard Initiative, a two-year residency program for composers, and was refined following a public workshop earlier in the season. Set against a financial scandal, the opera follows two daughters grappling with their father's decades-long fraud and explores themes of deception, family bonds, and trust. The production, conducted by Eli Chen, features sopranos Tracy Cantin and Meghan Kasanders, mezzo-soprano Quinn Middleman, and bass-baritone Kyle Albertson.
