SHREK THE MUSICAL at Deerfield Theater

Deerfield Theater and the Deerfield Park District announce their cast and production team for its upcoming production of DreamWorks Shrek The Musical! performing at the full renovated Caruso Auditorium in Deerfield IL (1801 Montgomery Rd, Deerfield, IL 60015)

Performances are November 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7:30pm and November 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 1pm. 

Producer Ryan Elliott has assembled an all-star production team led by director Karen Shuman, with her superb direction and story-telling. With exciting choreography by Kristine Burdi Stickney and brilliant musical direction by Daniel Ermel, this production will be sure to entertain members of the entire family. 

Based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks animated film, SHREK the Musical tells the irreverently funny yet poignant tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek. Featuring an array of clever and catchy songs, SHREK The Musical provides fun and entertainment for the whole family while proving that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

The cast stars Matanel Roitman (Shrek), McKenna Batterson (Fiona), Apollo Davis (Donkey), Sebastian Fabal (Lord Farquaad),  and Fae Logan (Dragon). 

A dynamic ensemble featuring many tracks that include Fairy Tale Creatures, Knights, Guards, Duloc Citizens, Rat Tappers are: Larry Aaronson, Marci Medwed Barnett, Alice Bath, Sara Deodhar, Michael Ermel, Jamie Gross, Jeri Hart, Claire Higgins, Megan Holloway, Al Katz-Mariani, James R B Kieliszewski, Michael Kirby, Elta Mahoney, Audrey McCaw, Mae O’Connell, Danielle Piccolomini, Abigail Rakocy, Annika Reece, Brandon Rhame, Diego Rios Brady, Lee Rivlin, Matilda Rose, Aubrey Rosenthal, Richard Schram, Ashley Storinger, Jack Taylor, Sydney Tschosik, and Jenna Veverka.  

The creative staff includes Chris Morgan (Technical Director), Lauren Price (Stage Manager), Jason Clark (Scenic Designer/Master Builder), Emily Horvath (Scenic Charge Artist), Christopher Finch (Props Master), Jade Andrews (Costume Designer), Andrew Vanderbye (Lighting Designer), Alicoe Sweet (Sound Designer), Dede Ginsberg (Assistant Director), Dane Strange (Assistant Choreographer), and Natalie Elizaroff (Assistant Stage Manager)

Director Karen Shuman shared her enthusiasm for the show's message, stating, "This story is an imperative reminder that we need to find the thread that connects us all." Producer Ryan Elliott echoed this sentiment, adding, “This production of Shrek The Musical holds profound meaning for our audience today. The final song of Act II answers a vital question with the lyric of 'We are diff'rent and united. You are us and we are you.'"
