Steppenwolf for Young Adults’ will bring its world premiere adaptation of 1919 to audience across Chicago this fall for a series of FREE performances through the Chicago Park District’s “Night Out In The Parks” initiative.
Steppenwolf Theatre Company will present the Steppenwolf for Young Adults’ world premiere of 1919, adapted by J. Nicole Brooks from Eve L. Ewing’s collection of luminous and searing poems about the killing of Black teenager Eugene Williams in 1919 off the segregated Chicago lakeshore – and how this tragedy reverberates today.
As Associate Artistic Director, Randle-Bent will work closely with Newell and other members of the artistic team. She will advise in season planning, manage the development of new work, and - as a part of Court theatre’s new engagement division - help set and articulate strategies for engagement with the many communities Court serves.

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company has announced Marti Lyons as artistic director. Lyons assumes this role effective immediately. Lyons was selected after a national search led by ALJP Consulting, with a search committee composed of select staff, Core Ensemble members, Board members and representatives of the local community.
American Blues Theater has announced She Writes the Songs, as part of its ongoing music series, “The Garage.” The online event on Friday, April 23 at 7pm Central will feature an evening of music with Artistic Affiliate Liz Chidester.

Victory Gardens Theater continues its 45th season with the Co-World Premiere of How to Defend Yourself by Liliana Padilla and directed by Marti Lyons. A Co-World Premiere with Actors Theatre of Louisville, How to Defend Yourself runs January 24 - February 23, 2020, with press performance on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 7:30pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.
