Farewell Opportunity, written by Georgette Kelly and directed by Raquel Torre, is a world premiere production at Filament Theatre for young audiences that follows Halley, a young girl who visits the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab and meets the Opportunity Mars rover. The two share a curious spirit and a shortened life expectancy, and Halley and the NASA scientist overseeing the Mars mission find themselves transformed by an unlikely friendship. The cast features Veronique Le as Tara, Takeisha Monet as Dr. Silva, Osiris Gabriel Mundo as Opportunity, and Emily Zhang as Halley. Through poetic language and magical realism, the play explores mortality and the nature of life's temporary nature, asking young audiences how to keep moving forward when faced with loss.
