Chicago Opera Theater (COT) performs a brand new production of celebrated American composer Mark Adamo's family-friendly holiday opera Becoming Santa Claus in it's Chicago premiere. December 11 at 7:30 PM, 17 at 7:30 PM & 19 at 3:00 PM, at the Studebaker Theater, 410 S. Michigan Avenue, in the Fine Arts Building.In Becoming Santa Claus, a bratty elf Prince learns the meaning of family, love, and the true spirit of gift-giving. The 90-minute work performed without intermission is sung in English, with English supertitles.Conducted by COT's Music Director Lidiya Yankovskaya with choreography and stage direction by Kyle Lang, this colorful take on the meaning of Christmas is sure to become a family holiday favorite. The cast is lead by American tenor Martin Bakari as Prince Claus.Becoming Santa Claus presents a wonderful opportunity to introduce the operatic art form to audience members of all ages.
