The 27th Annual Englewood Jazz Festival, presented by Live the Spirit Residency, is a three-day free festival held at Hamilton Park, 513 W. 72nd Street, Chicago. Founded in 1999 by saxophonist and composer Ernest Dawkins, the festival celebrates the next generation of creative musicians while honoring the centennial legacies of Oscar Brown Jr., John Coltrane, and Miles Davis. Performers include Julius Tucker, Live the Spirit Residency Expanded Ensemble with Dee Alexander, Jeremiah Hunt, Kevin King, Bobby Broom, Ernest Dawkins New Horizons Ensemble Redux, Maggie and Africa Brown, Dakarai Barclay, Marquis Hill with Braxton Cook, and the Young Masters. All music performed consists of original compositions by the featured artists, and the annual Spirit of Jazz Awards will also be presented during the festival.
