Northlight Extends CHAPATTI Through 4/19

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces a one-week extension of the World Premiere of Chapatti, a new work developed through Northlight's Interplay program and co-produced with Galway Arts Festival. Chapatti, by acclaimed Irish playwright Christian O' Reilly, is directed by Artistic Director BJ Jones and features John Mahoney and Penny Slusher. The production will run at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie, through April 19, 2014, and will play at the Galway Arts Festival in July 2014.

Victory Gardens Now Accepting Submissions for IGNITION Festival 2014

Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew announces a call for submissions of new, challenging, and innovative plays to be a part of the 2014 IGNITION Festival of New Plays, which will take place July 21-27, 2014. The fourth IGNITION festival will create a productive environment for both emerging and established playwrights to explore and develop their new work. The deadline for submission is Thursday, May 15, 2014.

The New Colony continues its 2013-14 season with the irreverent world premiere comedy ORVILLE AND WILBUR DID IT! by David Zellnik, directed by Co-Artistic Director Andrew Hobgood, playing June 13 - July 20, 2014 at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave. in Chicago. The production also includes several songs by David Zellnik and Eric Svejcar. Tickets go on sale Monday, May 5, 2014 at www.thenewcolony.org. The press performance is Tuesday June 17 at 7:30 pm.
First Folio Theatre Sets Post-Show Panel Discussion Series for SALVAGE

First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83) announces today its post-show talk back schedule for the world premiere of the new drama SALVAGE. The panel discussion series will kick off on Sunday, March 30 following the 3 p.m. performance with playwright, Joseph Zettelmaier, who will discuss his inspirations for the play. The discussion series will continue every Wednesday following the 8 p.m. performance (April 2, 9, 16, and 23) with Director Alison C. Vesely, Melanie Keller and Tyler Rich. SALVAGE opens March 29 and runs through April 27, 2014.

Continuing in a tradition of storytelling and music, Hershey Felder (George Gershwin Alone, Maestro Bernstein and last season's smash hit Mona Golabek in The Pianist of Willesden Lane) will present the World Premiere of Chris Lemmon in JACK LEMMON RETURNS, a new play with music. The production will preview May 2 and open on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at The Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted Street. The production is written and directed by Hershey Felder and based on the true story of the legendary Jack Lemmon (Mister Roberts, Some Like it Hot, Days of Wine and Roses, The Odd Couple) and his relationship with his son, actor and musician Chris Lemmon (Duet, That's Life, Lena's Holiday, etc.).

The critically hailed theatrical phenomenon Blue Man Group at Chicago's Briar Street Theatre (3133 N. Halsted Street) will be adding performances to the spring calendar for Spring Breakers looking to escape the ordinary this year. Ensemble member Amy Morton is at the helm following her Tony Award-nominated portrayal of Martha in Steppenwolf's production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on Broadway. The cast of six features Ira Amyx, ensemble member Martha Lavey, Caroline Neff, Deirdre O'Connell,Zoe Perry and Gabe Ruiz.
