TimeLine Theatre Company, joined by Brandon Johnson and civic leaders, celebrated the opening of its new Uptown home with a series of preview events throughout March. Check out photos of the celebration.
The $46 million venue at 5035 N. Broadway—transformed from a former warehouse—welcomed nearly 2,000 guests across multiple events, including a marquee lighting, community preview, press conference, ribbon cutting, and industry gathering.
Mayor Johnson said the new theatre will help “connect communities and drive economic vitality,” while Executive Director Mica Cole described it as “a new live theatre space, designed for both art and community.”
Artistic Director PJ Powers added, “At long last, we’re home… Expanding our impact was—and is—the goal.”
Rehearsals are now underway for the inaugural production in the new space, the Chicago premiere of AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, a new version by Amy Herzog of Henrik Ibsen’s play, directed by Ron OJ Parson. Previews begin May 6, with opening night set for May 14 and performances running through June 7.
