Masterworks: Musical Wanderlust closes Western Piedmont Symphony's 2025-2026 season with a globally inspired program performed at P.E. Monroe Auditorium in Hickory. Music Director Matthew Troy leads the orchestra through works including Goldmark's Overture to Sakuntala, Bizet's L'Arlésienne Suite No. 1, Steiner's Casablanca Suite, and Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 5, "Egyptian." Canadian pianist Sheng Cai takes center stage, bringing his expressive depth and virtuosity to a program that spans continents and cultures, with a performance history that includes major orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony, Shanghai Symphony, and Philharmonie Südwestfalen.
