OrangeMite’s production of The Misanthrope juxtaposes sixteenth century period manners and appearances with fresh modern language to reveal the wide gap that still exists today between the way we present ourselves (viz: carefully photo shopped selfies and pictures of our latest dinner plates on Instagram), and the way we really appear to others. The biggest clash of all occurs, today as in the sixteenth century, between what we say to people’s faces and what we say behind their backs. There is more than a little bit of the tartuffe in all of us, as Moliere was quick to point out! Show run time: Approx. 90 min Location: Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 North Main St. Dover, PA
