Upstart Arts once again brings you the plays no one else will. This time, enjoy a suite of Anton Chekhov's one act farces and follies.

Upstart Arts once again brings you plays you may not be aware of but certainly want to experience. Anton Chekhov, legendary for tragicomedies like The Cherry Orchard and Three Sisters, spent his early years writing short stories and one act plays that are masterpieces,  dissecting the humor and misunderstandings prevalent in relationships. In The Bear, two lonely souls find themselves with an unexpected and potentially explosive chemistry. The Proposal brings a nervous suitor to a skeptical spinster. The Wedding is a social struggle played out against the dance of a once in a lifetime party. And The Tragedian In Spite of Himself, well, that’s just a few favors from friends that might crush the protagonist. You may have been in one or more of these situations. Chekhov’s words show us how universal they are and how united we are in our humanity. Don’t miss this rare chance to see these plays.

Upstart Arts is an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c)3 theater collective, dedicated to bringing the performing arts to public spaces, including the world wide web. We are based in York, Pennsylvania, but we work with actors and audiences around the world via online productions and readings. All performances are free to the public, with donations accepted. 

Casting is come as you are, the only requirements a willingness to take comedy seriously.
