Bridge Street Theatre proudly presents the U.S. Premiere of Red Like Fruit by internationally acclaimed Canadian playwright Hannah Moscovitch, running October 2–12, 2025, at its intimate “Priscilla” Mainstage in Catskill, NY.
Hailed as “the dark angel of Canadian theatre,” Moscovitch is known for her uncompromising explorations of trauma, identity, and memory. Her works have won the Governor General’s Award and the prestigious Windham-Campbell Prize, and her plays have been produced across Canada, the U.S., and internationally.
In Red Like Fruit, journalist Lauren (Elizabeth Narciso) investigates a domestic violence case, but as interviews unfold, fragments of her own suppressed past begin to surface. Her written testimony is voiced onstage by actor Luke (Johnny Travers), raising urgent questions about who gets to speak, how women’s stories are framed, and the ways silence and shame can shape memory.
Directed by Margo Whitcomb, who previously helmed BST’s critically lauded U.S. premiere of Moscovitch’s East of Berlin, this haunting and award-winning work arrives fresh from its world premiere in Halifax and an acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Our mission is to enhance the cultural life of Catskill and the surrounding areas by presenting, independently and in concert with other artists, unique theatrical productions and other similar events unlike those generally available to audiences at other theaters in the region. To bring to light works we feel have been unjustly neglected, returning them to the stage where they belong. To present, devise, and commission brand-new works for the stage. To forge a diverse community of like-minded artists to aid in the creation of our work. To continue to locate and bring to our patrons the finest in local, national, and international talent. And to keep our ticket prices affordable and our work readily accessible to the widest possible audience.
