True West, written by Sam Shepard, is a sharp exploration of sibling rivalry and the complexities of the American dream. Directed by Michael Shamata, the play follows Austin, a disciplined screenwriter, and his estranged brother Lee, a drifter, whose unexpected reunion leads to a volatile battle for recognition and control. Featuring Calgary brothers Joe Perry and Stafford Perry, the production delves into themes of identity and ambition, as long-buried resentments surface. The show runs from February 2 to February 21, 2027, at Theatre Calgary.
Theatre Calgary has revealed the company’s 2026-27 season of plays. The lineup features six shows including a musical with teeth, two distinctly different comedies, a new adaptation of a beloved novel, and more.
