From the dark and twisted mind of Mexican composer, playwright and seven-time New York indie theater festival winner Christian De Gré Cárdenas comes another volume of Twisted Operelas, a one night only intimate return to Joe's Pub, 27 years in the making. Featuring longtime collaborators Emma Grimsley, fresh from her acclaimed title role in Heartbeat Opera's "vital, magnificently performed" MANON!; Tony Mowatt, back for another Joe's Pub concert after the New York International Fringe Festival award winning Jack of Hearts, Master of None; and Metropolitan Opera tenor Bernard Holcomb, praised by The New York Times for his "appealing sweetness and clarity"; joined by special guest Bethany Geraghty, returning as the force behind the kind and cruel Lucine. Together, they open the vault on De Gré Cárdenas' strange, surreal, twisted and deeply human theatrical tapestry, looking back just long enough to reveal what comes next.
