Pooja Reddy is White Trash at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater

When Pooja Reddy's parents immigrated to America, they were not prepared for how the American South would rub off on her. The result: hunting, fishing, boating, and firearm licenses, and a childhood spent playing pretend as a country singer and youth pastor. Told through stand-up comedy and original country music, Pooja Reddy is White Trash, is a wildly funny cabaret show about what happens when the American South gets its hands on a South Indian girl. At its heart, it is a love letter to the complex identities Southerners have, many of whom are immigrants and people of color. Pooja Reddy is a Brooklyn-based comedian and writer raised in rural Kentucky with roots in Hyderabad, India and Pooja Reddy a career that began in the Obama White House a natural stepping stone to stand-up comedy. She co-hosts Kutti Gang, a New York Times and Time Out New York recommended comedy show, and hosts an Arts & Culture podcast for PBS' ALL ARTS. She is currently a member of The Public Theater's Joe's Pub Working Group and a 2026 recipient of The Public Theater's Brooklyn College Artist Residency. Her work has been featured in New York Magazine and the 2025 Emmy-nominated PBS special Voices Rising.
