W. Kamau Bell Announces PRIVATE SCHOOL NEGRO Netflix Special Premiering June 26

Emmy and NAACP Image Award-winning socio-political comedian and "United Shades Of America" host W. KAMAU BELL announces the premiere of his new comedy special "PRIVATE SCHOOL NEGRO" which premieres globally TUESDAY, JUNE 26 on NETFLIX. Praised as "one of comedy's most necessary voices on social and political issues" (The New York Times), Kamau finds humor to mine in current affairs and delivers nonstop laughs throughout Private School Negro as he sounds off on the presidential administration, racism in America and what it would be like if Michelle Obama still had a job in the White House.

The premiere of Private School Negro follows Kamau's first comedy special Semi-Prominent Negro which was directed by Morgan Spurlock and premiered on Showtime. An album version ofSemi-Prominent Negro is available on legendary punk label Kill Rock Stars. Kamau has released two other standup comedy albums: One Night Only and Face Full of Flour.


Kamau is also the host and executive producer of the Emmy Award winning CNN docu-seriesUnited Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell. Season 3 of United Shades premiered this spring and follows Kamau as he explores communities across the country, using humor to start a conversation about race and how our differences unite and divide us. New episodes air every Sunday at 10:15pm ET/PT on CNN. He is also the creator and host of the critcally acclaimed yet criminally short-lived TV series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.


His first book, The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell: Tales of a 6' 4", African American, Heterosexual, Cisgender, Left-Leaning, Asthmatic, Black and Proud Blerd, Mama's Boy, Dad, and Stand-Up Comedian, was released in 2017.

Kamau has hosted of three critically acclaimed podcasts: Denzel Washington is The Greatest Actor of All Time Period, Politically Re-Active and Kamau Right Now!.

His debut as a director will happen later this year with the premiere of the A+E documentary,Culture Shock: Chris Rock's Bring The Pain.
