Director Rupert Sanders left no detail out for the current theatrical release of the American action-thriller Ghost In The Shell in theatres now. Along with the film itself, Sanders lent his visual talents to a six-video series of custom vizulaizers for tracks from Music Inspired By The Motion Picture Ghost In The Shell [Paramount Pictures via Kobalt Music Recordings].

Click here to watch the videos set to music by DJ Shadow featuring Nils Frahm, Above & Beyond, Gary Numan, Tricky, Johnny Jewel and Boys Noize. The entire album, which also features exclusive songs from IO Echo, KI: Theory and Kenji Kawai, including a Steve Aoki remix, is available now for download or stream at: https://ghostintheshell.lnk.to/album
The record assembles a cadre of electronic icons from some of today's leading acts to pioneers. To quietly introduce this powerhouse compilation, Richmond, VA producer and remix wizard Ki: Theory covered Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence." With its stark and stirring transmissions of vocal emotion and production magic, the song soundtracked the film's very first trailer, which cumulatively amassed over 30 million Youtube views in just under four months.
Linking two generations of Ghost In The Shell, GRAMMY® Award-nominated, gold-certified musical impresario and Dim Mak visionary Steve Aoki remixed composer Kenji Kawai's new theme entitled "UTAI IV-Awakening" with a 21st. The tribal drums and resounding choir spiral into an upbeat crescendo punctuated by a frenetic warble and haunting hum. Immediately, it garnered the praise of Nerdist, High Snobiety, YourEDM and many more.
Elsewhere, German producer and DJ Boys Noize delivers an ominous synth romp in the form of "Cathryn's Peak," which segues from a delicate build into a hypnotic harmony touted "...menacing and harrowing, but also melodic and hopeful..." by Dancing Astronaut. Chart-dominating GRAMMY® Award-nominated U.K. electronic music maestros Above & Beyond contribute the subtle, yet sharp classically-induced dreamscape of "Surge," and Johnny Jewel explores a myriad of dark aural corners between "Free Fall," "The Key" and "The Hacker," championed by SPIN as "... good and ominous as hell."
Representing the genre's most revered vanguard, trip-hop godfather Tricky serves up the slinky buzz and pop of "Escape." Adding his own flare, DJ Shadow treads through the melancholic melodies of "Scars" [feat. Nils Frahm]. Finally, a Gary Numan gem "Bed of Thorns" fits snugly within this cross-generational dance music mosaic.
From the pages of the original 1989 Japanese manga by iconic Masamune Shirow to the 2017 Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures and Reliance Entertainment's big screen adaptation of Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson as its heroine, this immortal tale seamlessly lends itself to the ebb and flow of electronic music.
