That's as ridiculous in real life as it would be on a courtroom television show" John exclaimed on last night's episode.
Presenting a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events, as well as addressing broader issues, the Emmy®-winning LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER continued its fifth season SUNDAY, FEB. 25 (11:05-11:35 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Topics include President Trump's proposed plan to address the issue of gun control, the ethical questions posed by Donald Trump Jr.'s recent trip to India and the candidates for Italy's upcoming national elections.
The show is also available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners' streaming platforms.
The series has been renewed through 2020.
LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER is the only weekly news-oriented comedy series to be presented on Sunday night. Taped in New York a few hours before it debuts on HBO, the show features a mix of Oliver's topical commentary and pre-taped pieces.<
In 2016, it received three Primetime Emmys®, including Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming. In 2015, the show received an Emmy® in the category of Outstanding Interactive Program.
