Amidst a tense few days of swirling rumors that Jimmy Fallon will soon grab the reins of NBC's THE TONIGHT SHOW from long-time host Jay Leno, today's New York Post adds a bit more fuel to the fire. The paper reports that Saturday Night Live head writer and host of 'Weekend Update' Seth Meyers is poised to move into Fallon's soon-to-be vacated late night slot.

A source told The Post, "Lorne Michaels wants Seth to take over from Fallon. It would be perfect for him. Tina Fey's name had also come up, but she has said she was too busy to do it."

It was reported this week that plans are already set in motion to have 'The Tonight Show' return to its original home in New York City and that the NBC network has already begun construction on a state-of-the-art studio for Fallon at 30 Rock.

The hope is that Leno will 'bow out gracefully' from his hosting gig in order for NBC execs to reveal Fallon as the show's newest host at its presentation to advertisers this May.
