Season 3 Debut of MTV's AWKWARD Up from Past Premieres

The season three debut of MTV's hit scripted series "Awkward" garnered a 2.3 P12-34 rating for each of the two back-to-back episodes, making it the highest rated debut for the series to date, up five percent from the season two premiere and 35 percent from season one launch. The premiere episodes were Tuesday's #1 and #2 cable series of the day with P12-34, averaging 2.1 million total viewers for each episode.
The series also had its highest rating ever among teens, with a 4.0 rating for the 10:00 p.m. episode and a 3.9 for the 10:30 p.m. episode, making the premieres the top two telecasts across all television for the day in the demo. The show earned an impressive 6.4 and a 6.3 rating with female teens for the first two episodes, also ranking #1 and #2 across all television for the day. "Awkward" was also the most social TV program of the day, with a quarter of all Twitter TV conversations centering around the series, according to Social Guide. In total, the show generated over 360,000 tweets by over 220,000 unique sources. Additionally, while off air in the lead up to the season three debut, MTV's "Awkward" Facebook page experienced 50 percent growth, now boasting 2.3 million fans.Photo by: MTV
