Deadline reports that Richard Gere is set to produce and star in TIME OUT OF MIND, a drama from director Oren Moverman (The Messenger). The movie will begin production in March 2014.

"Time Out Of Mind has obsessed me for many years now, " Gere said in a statement. "It is a profoundly human story that we are determined to make into a powerful film that speaks to everyone. I am proud and delighted to be collaborating with the brilliant writer/director Oren Moverman in telling this emotional and uncompromising story of loss, connection and the possibility of redemption."

TIME OUT OF MIND follows a New Yorker who finds himself homeless and struggling to fix his relationship with his estranged daughter.

Gere, Caroline Kaplan and Lawrence Inglee are producing the film.

Gere's upcoming big screen projects include Henry & Me and Franny. Among his recent film credits are Arbitrage, The Double, Amelia, Brooklyn's Finest, Nights in Rodanthe and more. He also starred as Billy Flynn in the 2002 movie version of the musical CHICAGO. Gere has appeared on Broadway in Bent, Habeas Corpus, Grease (also in the West End) and Soon.
