RATINGS: NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT Wins the Week

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt is the #1 most-watched evening broadcast in the key news demo for the week of January 28, according to Nielsen Media Research data and posted its highest ratings since the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (since February 5, 2018). Nightly News has won the key demo 25 of the last 27 weeks and continues as the #1 most-watched evening newscast season-to-date in the demo most valued by news advertisers.

The broadcast continues its strong performance in the key news demo averaging 2.3 million A25-54 viewers, besting ABC World News Tonight by +106,000 viewers (+5%) and CBS Evening News by +758,000 viewers (+51%). Nightly News delivered the largest week-over-week growth compared to the competition and also grew its key demo audience year-over-year.

Tonight, Lester Holt leads NBC News' coverage of President Trump's STATE OF THE UNION address and the Democratic response alongside Savannah Guthrie beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

For the week of January 28, Nightly News averaged 1.5 million A18-49 viewers topping ABC by +61,000 (+4%) and CBS by +431,000 viewers (+39%). Nightly News posted the largest week-over-week growth compared to the competition and grew its A18-49 audience year-over-year.Nightly News tallied its highest-rated week in A18-49 since the 2018 Winter Olympics (since February 12, 2018) and has won the younger demo 10 of the past 13 weeks.

Nightly News averaged 9.5 million total viewers for the week of January 28, growing both year-over-year and week-over-week, delivering the highest week-over-week increase compared to the competition. The broadcast topped CBS Evening News by 2.3 million total viewers (+33%) and posted its highest rated week since the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (since February 5, 2018).
