NIGHTLINE is No. 1 in Total Viewers for July Sweep

"Nightline" ranked No. 1 for the 2014 July Sweep in Total Viewers (1.514 million), winning its first July sweep in its new time slot, based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" led NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" by 33,000 Total Viewers and CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" by 222,000 Total Viewers. "Nightline" has won the last 2 sweeps periods after also winning May 2014.

In addition, "Nightline" outdelivered CBS' "The Late Late Show" by 146,000 Adults 25-54 and by 95,000 Adults 18-49. In fact, for the 2013-14 season, "Nightline" has beaten the CBS program in all 4 sweeps periods in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 and in 3 of 4 in Adults 18-49.

"Nightline" improved on the year-ago sweep (1.413 million, 536,000 and 400,000, respectively, for July 2013) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+7%), Adults 25-54 (+18%) and Adults 18-49 (+20%). In fact, "Nightline" drew the Net's largest overall July sweep audience in the time slot in 12 years - since July 2002. In addition, "Nightline" was the only program to post gains over the year-ago sweep, as both CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (-3%/-19%/-17%) and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (-12%/-5%/-3%) turned in across-the-board losses.

Week of July 28, 2014

ABC News' "Nightline" averaged 1.439 million Total Viewers, 556,000 Adults 25-54 and 446,000 Adults 18-49 during the week of July 28, 2014, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" beat CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" during the week in Total Viewers (+328,000), Adults 25-54 (+184,000) and Adults 18-49 (+152,000).

For the 5th straight week, "Nightline" was up over the year-ago week (1.274 million, 527,000 and 395,000, respectively, on w/o 7/29/13) in Total Viewers (+13%), Adults 25-54 (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%). "Nightline" was the only program to grow across all three measures as CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (-17%/-36%/-37%) was down by double-digits, while NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (-17%/-4%/+3%) was mixed.

"Nightline" owned the No. 1 telecast of the week (1.736 million on 7/28/14) with its Monday airing, beating every telecast of the week of CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

Season to date, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" across the board: Total Viewers (+248,000), Adults 25-54 (+91,000) and Adults 18-49 (+52,000).

ABC News' "Nightline" received 13 News Emmy nominations. The program is anchored by Dan Harris, Dan Abrams, and Juju Chang. Almin Karamehmedovic is executive producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35-1:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. Together with "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Nightline" is part of ABC's winning late night strategy of airing news and entertainment programming.
