NBC's 2014 Skate Canada International Coverage Launches this Weekend

NBC presents 2014 Skate Canada International coverage this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET featuring performances from the men's and ladies' free skate competition from Prospera Place in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Leading Team USA are 2014 Olympic team bronze medalist Ashley Wagner and 2013 U.S. champion Max Aaron.

The ladies' international field features Russia's Alena Leonova, a 2012 World silver medalist, and Anna Pogorilaya, who finished in fourth place at the 2014 World Championships. Headlining the men's competition is two-time World bronze medalist Javier Fernandez of Spain.

COMMENTATORS: NBC's lead figure skating broadcast team of three-time U.S. figure skating championJohnny Weir, 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski, and play-by-play announcer Terry Gannon will handle coverage.

Skate Canada is the second event of the 2014 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. The Grand Prix Series, now in its 20th season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 200 athletes from 25 countries are expected to participate in the series. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2014 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 11-14, in Barcelona, Spain.
