NBC Sports Presents Over 20 Hours of 2018 PRUDENTIAL US FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS Live

2017 Grand Prix Final Champion Nathan Chen and 2016 world silver medalist Ashley Wagner highlight NBC Sports Group's more than 20 hours of live coverage of the 2018 Prudential U.S. FIGURE SKATING Championships from the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. Coverage begins tomorrow, Wed., Jan. 3, at 11 p.m. ET with live coverage of the ladies' short program on NBCSN. NBC hosts live coverage of the ladies' free skate, pairs' free skate, and free dance programs throughout the weekend, beginning this Fri., Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. ET with the ladies' free program.

NBCSN will present live coverage of the short programs in all four disciplines as well as the men's free skate (Sat., Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. ET), with an additional hour of coverage of the pairs' short program airing live on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA this Thurs., Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. ET. Plus, NBC will present the Smucker's Skating Spectacular exhibition gala on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 4 p.m. ET.

The U.S. Championships serve as the final qualifying competition before U.S. FIGURE SKATING selects the 2018 U.S. Olympic FIGURE SKATING Team. The Olympic selection committee will take into account the results of this competition, the 2017 Grand Prix Final, and 2017 Grand Prix series, plus additional competitions from the prior season. Team USA will send three ladies, three men, one pair team, and three ice dance teams to the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.

The 26-year-old Wagner, who is the 2016 world silver medalist and a three-time U.S. champion, could become the oldest woman to claim the title since 1924 (Theresa Weld Blanchard). She will be joined by reigning U.S. champion Karen Chen, 2016 Four Continents silver medalist Mirai Nagasu, and 2017 U.S. bronze medalist Mariah Bell.

Highlighting the men's field is 2017 Grand Prix Final, Four Continents and U.S. champion Nathan Chen. He will be challenged by 2016 U.S. champion Adam Rippon, 2015 U.S. champion and 2014 Olympic team bronze medalist Jason Brown, and 2013 U.S. champion Max Aaron.

In ice dance, reigning U.S. champions and three-time world medalists Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani will pursue a third consecutive U.S. title. They will be joined by two-time world medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and four-time U.S. bronze medalists Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue. HAVEN Denney and Brandon Frazier look to defend their U.S. pairs' title, featuring competition from 2015 U.S. champions Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim.

NBC Sports Group's lead FIGURE SKATING commentary team of play-by-play announcer Terry Gannon, 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski, the youngest person to win a U.S. Championships title at 14, and three-time U.S. FIGURE SKATING champion Johnny Weir, will call the 2018 Prudential U.S. FIGURE SKATING Championships and Smucker's Skating Spectacular, with four-time U.S. champion and 1984 Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton offering analysis and insight throughout NBC's coverage this weekend. They'll be joined by Mike Tirico, who will host coverage throughout the weekend, 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith White, and reporter Andrea Joyce on-site at the SAP Center.
