TVLine.com reports that NBC may be planning a spin-off to their highly successful freshman drama CHICAGO FIRE. According to the report, the show's Season 1 Finale may now become a pilot episode for the new project which will focus on the city's Men in Blue.

Dick Wolf, who serves as executive producer of 'Fire' has had great success with spinning off TV series, including the hit trio of Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He will serve as director of the new drama alongside Chicago Fire creators/executive producers Derek Haas and Michael Brandt and executive producer Matt Olmstead.

It still remains unknown which, if any, cast members from Chicago Fire will move over to the police-themed drama.

NBC recently gave a 22-episode order for Chicago Fire which has performed well overall in weekly ratings.
