Michael Pena Joins Live-Action DORA THE EXPLORER as Dora's Dad

Michael Pena has been cast as Dora's father in the live-action DORA THE EXPLORER film, according to Variety.

This news comes only a day after it was announced Eva Longoria would be playing Dora's mother.

The titular role will be portrayed by Isabela Moner. DORA THE EXPLORER will be released on August 2, 2019.

The film centers on Dora as a teenager, moving to the city and dealing with high school. She finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey) and a ragtag group of teens on a "Goonies"-esque adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

The original "Dora the Explorer" animated TV series ran on Nickelodeon from 2000-2014 and followed a young Latina girl who went on adventures around the world.

Pena most recently starred in Marvel's ANT-MAN AND THE WASP. He can soon be seen in season four of NARCOS: MEXICO on Netflix.
