Meet the Press with David Gregory" was the top-rated Sunday morning public affairs hour for the week ending September 30, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

“Meet the Press” attracted 2.928 million total viewers, leading “This Week” by +13% (+338,000), the “Face the Nation” hour by +29% (+659,000), and “FOX News Sunday” by +99% (+1,456,000).

MTP delivered an additional 1,255,000 total viewers and 575,000 A25-54 viewers with rebroadcasts -- 693,000 total viewers and 374,000 viewers A25-54 on the network, and 562,000 total viewers and 201,000 viewers A25-54 on MSNBC.

In Washington, DC, MTP averaged 105,000 total viewers (4.0/11 HH), +62% ahead of the Face the Nation hour’s 65,000 viewers (1.9/5 HH), +81% over FOX News Sunday’s 58,000 viewers (2.2/6 HH), and +184% more than This Week’s 37,000 viewers (1.3/4 HH).

Other Highlights:

MTP averaged 2.928 million total viewers, leading This Week by +13% (+338,000), the Face the Nation hour by +29% (+659,000), and FOX News Sunday by +99% (+1,456,000).
In homes nationally, the NBC broadcast delivered a 2.2 rating and 6 share, ahead of ABC’s 1.9/5 the CBS hour’s 1.7/5, and FOX’s 1.1/3.
In rating A25-54, MTP outperformed both This Week and the Face the Nation hour by +17% (+1 tenth) while topping FOX News Sunday by +40% (+2 tenths).
MTP averaged 789,000 A25-54 (000) viewers, leading This Week by +5% (+41,000), the Face the Nation hour by +15% (+104,000), and FOX News Sunday by +32% (+190,000).
MTP posted gains in both homes (+3%) and rating M25-54 (+14%) versus the same telecast last season.
Compared to its 3Q’12 average, MTP was up in homes (+7%) and total viewers (+7%, or +196,000).
Versus the comparable season-to-date period last year, MTP is up in homes (+11%) and total viewers (+8%, or +205,000).

Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press featured interviews with Romney supporter Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) and White House senior adviser David Plouffe; a roundtable conversation with conservative activist and founder of the Faith and Freedom Coalition Ralph Reed, Fmr. Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA), the BBC’s Katty Kay, NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd; and a report from Afghanistan with NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel.
