Kiefer Sutherland is packing up and heading to POMPEII.

The 24 and TOUCH star has officially entered final negotiations to join Paul W.S. Anderson's disaster epic POMPEII, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sutherland joins Kit Harington (GAME OF THRONES) for the big-budget film from Constantin Film. Production kicked off last week in Toronto.

Set in 79 A.D., the film picks up just a few days before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, with Harington playing a young slave aboard a ship. He "must race against time to save his true love, his master's daughter (Emily Browning), as well as his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the coliseum when the destruction begins."

Sutherland is set to play the villain, "a Roman senator who enslaved Harington's village. The scheming senator forces the merchant to give his daughter's hand in marriage to him."
