BATTLESTAR GALACTICA's Katee Sackhoff will soon be returning to television - in another sci-fi role.

According to Deadline, the actress, who at one time was believed to be up for Ms. Marvel in future installments of THE AVENGERS, has created a new Science fiction series, titled RAIN, in which she will also star. Sackhoff has partnered with Reunion Pictures, behind CONTINUUM, on the project.

"With Rain, Katee has created a future world and a story that are compelling as both a sweeping vision and a very personal exploration of a civilization in harrowing decline by its own hand," Reunion Pictures' Tom Rowe said in a statement. "She has written a great story and we are excited to be working with her."

The series is described as an "evolutionary parable that gives us a look into our possible future as a species viewed through the eyes of a soldier named Rain (Sackhoff). It explores how the long-term effects of global warming, the burning of fossil fuels and the scientific manipulation of nature's balance rot the world and contribute to its decline."

"It's great to be in business with Reunion and Thunderbird," Sackhoff added, per the report." Their credentials in the genre are outstanding and they share my vision in telling a story that means a lot to me."

After BATTLESTAR ended its run, Sackhoff went on to star in A&E's LONGMIRE, which Netflix picked up after its cancellation. She's also appeared in RIDDICK, opposite Vin Diesel, and the horror film OCULUS.
