According to Deadline, James McAvoy is set to play 'Victor Von Frankenstein' in Fox's upcoming adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel FRANKENSTEIN - opposite Daniel Radcliffe's 'Igor.'

The project will be helmed by Paul McGuinan, and written by Max Landis (CHRONICLE). John Davis will produce the film for Fox.

McAvoy, who's currently filming the X-MEN: FIRST CLASS follow-up DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, beat out Jack Huston (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) and Toby Kebbel (ROCKNROLLA) for the coveted role.

Earlier this year, it was believed that the studio would begin shooting in the UK at the end of the summer. With the late casting, production seems to be pushed back into the fall/winter.

On stage, McAvoy recently appeared in Traf Transformed's Macbeth at Trafalgar Studio, as well as Donmar Warehouse's Privates on Parade, the Apollo's Three Days of Rain and more. McAvoy is in post-production on film projects Filth, Welcome To The Punch and Trance.

McAvoy's other film credits include The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Last King of Scotland, Atonement, Wanted, Becoming Jane, and X-Men: First Class. On television he has appeared in State of Play, Shameless, Children of Dune and Band of Brothers.
