Harris Center Presents Drumline Live's Holiday Spectacular

Bringing their energetic style of holiday joy to Folsom on the night before Christmas, DRUMLine Live returns to the Harris Center with a dynamic holiday program. Combining Gospel, Jazz, Soul, Motown rhythms, and The Nutcracker Suite to the driving force of a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) marching band, over 30 talented musicians and vocalists employ energetic choreography, spectacular lighting, and beautiful holiday costumes to create a holiday extravaganza like no other. "DRUMLine Live shows the thrill, the musical genius and the true flavor of the ever exciting halftime show" (The Star Ledger).

DRUMLine Live performs Holiday Spectacular on Stage One of the Harris Center on Monday, December 24, 2018, at 4 and 8 pm. Tickets are $38-$68; Premium $72. Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from 12 noon to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Parking is included in the price of the ticket. Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.

The DRUMLine Live Holiday Spectacular comes direct from producer Don P. Roberts and the extraordinary musical team behind 20th Century Fox's hit movie, Drumline, and VH1's, Drumline: A New Beat. But DRUMLine Live is no movie - theirs includes a show-stopping version of "The Little Drummer Boy," highlighted by the creative sights and sounds of an HBCU-style drum line; the modern sounds of Mariah Carey's #1 holiday hit "All I want for Christmas Is You;" Ariana Grande's, "Santa Tell Me," and Justin Bieber's, "Mistletoe" - all new holiday traditions in the making. The classic favorites "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and "Jingle Bells" each bear the unmistakable, irrepressible traditions of HBCU marching bands.

Mr. Don P. Roberts, M.M.ED. served as the Executive Band Consultant for the Twentieth Century Fox movie, Drumline. He was responsible for training the actors, writing the precision drills and rehearsing the band,

He was appointed to a challenging dual role from 1998-2004. With the assistance of six chairmen (3 band and 3 orchestra), Mr. Roberts supervised approximately 150 music directors, 19 high schools, 19 middle schools, and 88 elementary schools - over 15,000 students participating in band, chorus, and orchestra in school programs he coordinated. One of these, the Southwest DeKalb Panthers, was the only band in America selected to perform in the Opening Ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. There Mr. Roberts worked with the renown producers Kenny Ortega (High School Musical and This Is It) and Don Mischner (who produced the Prince Super Bowl Halftime 2007).

And yet DRUMLine Live remains a seminal accomplishment. The Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College brings the community together to share in cultural experiences featuring the work of artists from throughout the region and around the world. Built and operated by the Los Rios Community College District, the $50 million, state-of-the-art regional performing arts center boasts three intimate venues with outstanding acoustics, an art gallery, a recording studio, elegant teaching spaces, plenty of safe parking and all the other amenities of a world-class performing arts venue. Each year the Center hosts over 400 events attracting more than 150,000 annually.
